Lingfield Running Club has a friendly and sociable approach to running and currently has well over 100 members ranging in age from the late teens to 70+. Our members’ running interests are very diverse and range from jogging for the sake of fitness to running distances ranging from fun runs through to marathons and beyond. We cater for a wide range of abilities – both hares and tortoises!
Our home base is the Victoria Sport & Social Club (VS&SC) which is centrally located in Lingfield’s High Street.
Throughout the year we run as a club from VS&SC at 7 pm on both Tuesday and Thursday evenings and at 10 am on Saturday mornings. Most of these runs are around the beautiful local countryside except for the winter evenings, when we stick to well-lit routes in the village and stay in groups as safety is paramount.
For our more competitive runners, speed training sessions are held in St Piers Lane at 6.45 pm on Monday evenings.
The club runs a number of informal handicap races for its members during the year and also organises the annual Dry Hill 10 Mile race in September, a large part of the proceeds of which are donated to a nominated charity.
The club has both Ladies’ and Mens’ Cross Country teams who take part in their respective Surrey Cross Country leagues and compete in four events over the winter season.
The club is also a very social group, many of our members will head to the pub after their run and we have some good parties.
If you’re completely new to running, or an experienced runner wondering whether Lingfield Running Club is right for you, please come along to a number of our regular runs on a no obligation basis before making your mind up whether to join the club. We have many experienced runners in the club who are very willing to provide support and advice, whether your goal is just to get fitter, run a greater distance or smash that PB.
